About yoga in Tibetan tradition

Kalu Rinpoche
(1905 – 1989)

This type of yoga turns inward and leads to an understanding of the nature of the mind. It offers a harmonious set of dynamic exercises for body, speech and mind. The exercises are open to all Buddhists and non-Buddhists, young or old, beginner or advanced, as well as practicing other types of yoga. They include symbolic attitudes and gestures, the experience of space and movement – relaxation and massage techniques, breathing practices, working with inner channels and chakras, reciting mantras, developing compassion, the experience of emptiness and clarity of mind. This whole represents an excellent initial contact with Buddhism.
Learning is a continuation of its first part, which took place in November 2018.

Lama Sonam Tshering

was born on 14 November 1966 in India in the province of Darjeeling. At the age of 3, he joined the Sonada monastery, which was founded by Kyabje Kalu Rinpoche. At the age of eight, under the auspices of Kalu Rinpoche, he accepts novice promises; the monastic promises are then kept for more than twenty years. Under the leadership of his master, Kalu Rinpoche, he completed the traditional three-year retreat, completing his studies, and remains in the monastery in Sonada, where he serves as master ceremony (umdze). Lama Sonam was an assistant to Kal Rinpoche until the end of his life. Thanks to his qualities, he was responsible for giving Kalu Rinpoche the leadership of the Buddhist Center in Montpellier, France, shortly before his death, where, since November 1989, he served as head of the center and spiritual master, and gave the general public the teachings of the Kagya tradition to fulfill the mission entrusted from his master.
